Finally my wish to go to Gunung Yong Belar came true. Life away from the city , away from mobile phones and Internet is very peaceful. Taking only 1 electronic device which is my digital camera Canon g9 to observe the flora and fauna (insect only) is my favorite past time.

The expedition began on Sunday morning after putting a night at Chim's place in cameron highlands. The 4wd driver came and pick us (siong har, ah fong, wen bin, lichan, chim, desmond, mei ru ,elwin,Fang Hau, tang(http://soifung.multiply.com) and me) up at Kg Raja Temple to Blue Valley Cameron Highland.

Our journey to conquer Mt Yong Belar starts at 9.12 a.m. As usual every hikers who wanted to go to Mt Chali, Mt Sempadan 3 negeri need to climb a big man made steps which is around 12 inches tall. We walk all the way straight until we reach a huge savanah look a like field with grasses and plants such as fern leave taller than you. Most of us got scratches on the legs and arms.

Reaching the entrance of the jungle, we saw a group of hikers coming down . They told us that they were doing trans titwangsa (si bei bei meaning East, North and North Mt) and they were from KL. The are numerous times we met hikers from KL in this hiking trip. Maybe they have the same intention like us, wanted to be away from the City or away from the air pollution ?Whatever reason we have, it's a trip for us. NO 1 criteria to hike trans titiwangsa is you have to be able to walk for 5-6 days. No 2 , you don't have any commitment for 5-6 days. No 3 Mentally and Physically fit to do so.

Kem Tudung Periuk

We reached the first water point , Kem Tudung Periuk at 12.30. Had my nasi lemak as lunch and proceed to the last water point which is Kem Kasut where we reach there around 4 p.m. Me, Tang and wen bin gather at Kem Kasut for a final regroup . The last water point is where we need to fill 2 bottles of water for cooking.

Kem Kasut

I reached the peak at 5.30. I was looking around and make sure is Mt Yong Belar peak. Without wasting time. I took as much photos as I can . I shouted at the peak to motivate others or should I said is an encouragement to tell them that the peak is near by. Tang was a few minutes behind. We help each other to take photos . Take out necessary stuff and changed to a set of clean clothes. FYI we did not take bath.

I conquer the Mt Yong Belar. 3rd Highest in Peninsular Malaysia

Dinner was great, we had pork with salted fish, fried roasted pork with garlic, ahChar ( salad with peanut and sesame seeds) , Soup with salted egg and vege and sambal petai. At night we have herbal tea “loh hong koh”.

My Favorite Vege

I slept well that night but woke up extremely early, 5 ++ p.m. Anyway it's already my routine to wake up at 5 p.m. on sunday.

Pita Bread with Sardine

The menu for breakfast is pita bread with sardine fish, layer cake and a cup of neslo(milo + nescafe). As usual group photo is part and parcel in every hiking trip before we decend.

Descending is quite similar to ascending except there are more downhills than uphills. You still need to go uphill and downhill all the way to the base.

This is where we were lost

This time after the final regroup me, tang , wen bin and fang hau decided to walk behind. Trying to sweep with an intention to take photos. The group decided to use another route to come out , the short cut instead of going through the fields with tall grass and fern leaves. Unfortunately we lost the way after crossing a river. Wen bin realized that we were heading upstream and logically it is wrong. We turned back and find the path again . The good news is we managed to find the correct path to come out. The bad news is we had walk extra 1 hour to come out.
